Lesson 2: The New Deal

We will describe the government's response to the Great Depression, & we will evaluate its effects on the nation.
  • This means we will compare and contrast Hoover and Roosevelt’s response to the Great Depression.
  • It also means that we will analyze the ways in which the size and power of the U.S. government changed during this period.

We will summarize the origins of World War II, & we can assess the American response to the growing international crisis from 1935-1941.
  • This means we will identify the events that led to the start of World War II in 1939.
  • It also means that we will evaluate the United States’ reaction to each event.

Lesson 4: America at War

Picture
We will analyze the military strategies the United States & its allies pursued during World War II.
  • This means we will assess the battle strategies of the U.S. in both the Pacific and European Theaters and determine how each led to victory for the Allied Powers.
  • It also means we will analyze Truman’s decision to use the atomic bomb against Japan in order to end the war.
