Looking Back at the Rwandan Genocide

On this day in 1994, civil war erupted in the east African nation of Rwanda.  For the next 100 days, the Hutu extremists who controlled the country brutally murdered an estimated 500,000 to 1 million civilian Tutsis and moderate Hutus in what has been labeled as the worst episode of ethnic genocide since World War II.
