On this day in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address at the dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery in Pennsylvania. At just over two minutes in length, the speech was criticized in its own time. Today, however, it is widely regarded as one of the most important speeches in American history.
